The Rules Of Blackjack
Each player plays against the dealer and the object is to have a hand higher than the dealer without exceeding 21. Cards are worth their value (ie. 7 of spades is worth 7), picture cards are worth 10 and aces are can be either 1 or 11. A hand that exceeds 21 has "too many" and so loses automatically.Players place their bets in one of the boxes, then each player is dealt 2 cards to start and the dealer is dealt one card. The cards are all face up for everyone to see. The best hand is an ace and a ten which makes 21. This is called a blackjack and pays 3 to 2.Once the cards are dealt players take turns making decisions about their hand. A player can STAY (keep their hand as is), HIT (take another card), DOUBLE DOWN (only when you have 2 cards you double your bet and get 1 final card) or SPLIT (when you have 2 cards of the same value you play two hands with the split cards being the first card in each hand). When the players have finished making decisions, the dealer will complete their hand. If the dealer has 16 or lower they must hit and if the dealer has a 17 or higher they must stay. When the dealer completes their hand (or busts) then that hand is over and the bets are resolved and we then get ready to start a new hand.
